I AM EXTREMELY FORTUNATE TO CO-OWN ANOTHER COMPANY WITH A LEADING BREAST FEEDING SPECIALIST - GERALDINE MISKIN.  MISKIN MATERNITY WORKS VERY HARD TO MAKE HIRING A MATERNITY NURSE OR NIGHT NANNY AS SMOOTH AND STRESS FREE AS POSSIBLE.  

We understand that becoming a new parent can feel daunting and overwhelming at times, especially when you live far from your immediate family or if your partner travels a lot with work commitments.

As a new parent, you may not know where to look for somebody who will look after your baby in the same way that you would like to, or know what to expect from a Maternity Nurse or Night Nanny or what to do if you find the person you have employed isn’t the right fit for your needs.

Maternity nurses are not medically trained as their title suggests and this is why Lizzie and I felt that it was important to structure our company as we have.

Having worked with thousands of new parents, we know that there is a real need for an agency who:

• Recruits carefully rather than ‘en masse’
• Takes responsibility for training and developing their team
• Supports both parents and girls alike
• Puts ethics and delivering a high standard of care before income

We recruit carefully

We only recruit girls we would feel comfortable having in our homes when we are not feeling our best and need TLC. To ensure we get the best girls we have a 6 step recruitment and vetting process in place. The girls are frequently assessed via phone conversations and training events.

We train and develop our team

To ensure that you don’t get conflicting or incorrect advice, our girls are trained by myself, Geraldine Miskin, for breastfeeding matters and Lizzie for routine and sleep matters. Successful candidates join us for compulsory Hathcling training before being placed with you. They can then continue to climb the ladder to become a Duckling, Duck or fully fledged Mother Duck.

We believe that with the right support and training, night nannies and maternity nurses can provide new families with the care and guidance they need.

We support both parents and girls alike

Once one of our girls are placed with you, we are in regular contact to ensure that things are going well and working for both parties. This ensures that you have our full support and that you have a positive and enjoyable experience.

We don’t expect our girls to have the same level of expertise as ourselves and are therefore in frequent contact to answer their questions as well as yours during their placement. We support them, so that they can support you and if you ever want to chat, we are at the end of the line too.

We put ethics and a high standard of care before income

It is very important to us that you and your baby are cared for properly which is why we recruit carefully, train and support our girls the way we do. Whilst this means that we don’t always have candidates available for last minute placements, we would rather turn work away than place somebody we didn’t know or trust.

We also help smooth out any bumps. You don’t have to deal with any management of our girls – we are happy to handle all conversations for you, which allows you to make changes and give feed back without feeling awkward.
