A lovely, relaxed family based in Milan is looking for an experienced nanny/governess to support their 8-year-old child. This is a fantastic opportunity for an energetic, well-educated and experienced candidate who enjoys combining childcare with a strong educational focus.
The child attends an English-speaking school in Milan, so the family are looking for someone with excellent English and a strong educational background who can provide homework support and tutoring alongside the usual nanny responsibilities.
The Role
The nanny will be responsible for the child's day-to-day care, including morning and evening routines, school runs, activities and supporting their overall development.
The family are particularly keen to find someone with strong educational and tutoring experience who can help the child stay organised with schoolwork, encourage their academic interests and make learning engaging.
During term time, the nanny will also provide approximately two hours of English tutoring to Mum, making excellent communication and English skills particularly important.
The working day is broadly 6:30am–8:00pm, but the nanny will have substantial downtime while the child is at school, making this a more manageable schedule than the hours initially suggest.
Responsibilities
- Providing warm, attentive and engaging care for an 8-year-old
- Managing morning and evening routines
- School drop-offs and collections
- Driving the child to activities, appointments and outings
- Supporting homework and school projects
- Providing educational support and tutoring
- Encouraging the child's academic, social and personal development
- Organising age-appropriate activities and outings
- Supporting the child's interests and hobbies
- Providing approximately two hours of English tutoring to Mum during term time
- Preparing meals and snacks for the child
- Managing children's laundry and belongings
- Keeping the child's areas tidy and organised
- Supporting with childcare-related household tasks
- Being happy to muck in and help the wider household when required
- Working as part of a team alongside the parents and existing household staff
- Travelling extensively with the family at certain times of the year
The family already employs a good housekeeper and cleaner, so this is primarily a childcare and educational role. However, they would appreciate someone with a hands-on, flexible attitude who is happy to help where needed.

Accommodation & Travel
The nanny will have their own private studio flat, providing a comfortable degree of independence while still being close to the family.
The family travel extensively at certain times of the year, so the nanny must be genuinely happy to travel with them. Flights back to the nanny's home country will be paid for by the family.
